Maintenance tasks
Sample tasks and dates are filled in — replace them with your own. Intervals here are examples; your manufacturer's manual or local code wins when they differ.

Track this all year with Home Maintenance OS
This calculator gives you today's snapshot from what you type in right now. Home Maintenance OS keeps the full home profile, a service log with vendors and costs, warranty and end-of-life tracking, and a one-click records summary in the same file, so the schedule updates itself as you log work. One offline file, no subscription, yours forever — one-time $26.
How the schedule works
Each task carries two numbers: an interval (how often, in months) and the date it was last done. The calculator adds the interval to that date to get the task's next due date, then compares it to today. The same math drives the season filter and the 12-month view, so every figure on the page is built from the same two inputs you typed in.
- Clean gutters and downspouts is a 6-month job, last done about 192 days ago. Six months out from then is roughly 9 days in the past — overdue.
- Shut off and drain hose bibs is a 12-month job, last done about 353 days ago. Its next due date lands about 12 days from now — due within 30 days.
- Reseal the deck is a 24-month job, last done about 440 days ago. Its next due date is still around 290 days out — on schedule, and it shows up in the 12-month view in the month it falls.
- Chimney inspection and sweep has no last-done date entered, so there is nothing to count an interval from — it is marked never logged rather than guessed at.
What it deliberately leaves out
This is a scheduling calculator, not a service record. It does not store vendor names, costs, warranties, or receipts, and it does not remember what you typed once you close the tab. The intervals shown are common examples, not a standard any inspector or manufacturer is bound to — always defer to your appliance's manual and your local building code when they say something different. It also does not account for your specific climate, how hard a system is used, or a past repair that might shorten an interval — it is a starting schedule to adjust, not a finished one.
Reading the tags
Overdue means the next due date has already passed. Due soon means it falls within the next 30 days. On schedule means it's further out than that. Never logged means there's no last-done date to calculate from yet — log one, and it moves into one of the other three.
Questions
- How does the schedule decide what is "overdue"?
- Each task has an interval (how often, in months) and a last-done date. The calculator adds the interval to the last-done date to get the next due date, then compares that to today. Past today is overdue, within 30 days is due soon, and further out is on schedule. A task with no last-done date is marked "never logged" instead, since there is nothing to count from.
- Where do the example intervals and tasks come from?
- They are common homeowner maintenance jobs — furnace service, gutter cleaning, HVAC filters, and similar — at commonly cited intervals. They are examples to replace, not a standard. Your manufacturer’s manual and your local building code always win over a generic interval.
- What does the "by month" view show?
- A calendar of the next 12 months, with each task placed in the month its next due date falls in. Anything already overdue shows under the current month, since it needs attention now. Tasks due more than a year out do not appear in this view.
- Why does the season filter show fewer tasks than I expect?
- Filtering to a season (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter) shows only the tasks you have tagged with that season. Tasks tagged "Any" — not tied to one season — only appear in the "All" view, since they are not specific to the season you have selected.
- Does anything I type get saved or sent anywhere?
- No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser and stores nothing. Close the tab and it is gone — reload the page and the sample tasks come back.
